This is a leisurely hike through a lush forest before arriving at Boom Lake, at the base of the towering Boom Mountain! WHAT TO BRING
Hiking in the Canadian Rockies is a truly rewarding experience. As weather and trail conditions can change rapidly it is important you are prepared. Sun can change to snow throughout the day (even in summer!). Please review below so you are best prepared to enjoy your day!
Sturdy hiking shoes/boots
- Although trails are maintained, hiking in Lake O’Hara involves hiking on rocky, uneven, sometimes muddy or even snowy terrain. Having good footwear suitable for hiking is of most importance.Hiking poles (we can happily provide these if you don't already have your own)
Weather-appropriate clothing:
- Layers, preferably moisture wicking (merino wool), fleece, waterproof layers
- Hiking pants (no jeans or cotton pants)
- Winter hat, gloves/mitts
- Merino blend socks + 1 extra pair of socks (in case your socks get wet)Comfortable backpack with rain cover
Small first aid kit (Our guides carry a first aid kit so this doesn’t need to be comprehensive - band-aids, ibuprofen/tylenol, blister kit)
Water (2L camelbak recommended)
Sunscreen, sunglasses, sun hat
